Lilly Singh- How to Be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life, Review

To Lilly Singh- BAWSE for Life

WARNING: This book does not include hopeful thoughts, lucky charms, or cute quotes. That’s because success, happiness, and everything else you want in life need to be worked for, not wished for. In Lilly’s world, there are no escalators, only stairs. Get ready to climb.

I had to wait  patiently for eight long months to learn the traits of 'How to be a Boss, I mean Bawse'! Now, Who is a Bawse? According to the urban dictionary... A Bawse is a human being who exudes confidence, turns heads, reaches goals, finds inner strength, gets hurt efficiently and smiles genuinely- because they've fought through it all and made it out the other side. The double-handed praise was created for them.
So, when the book arrived, I was eager to learn the art ASAP.

Before I start my review, let me tell you something, i.e. I am a Huge... H.U.G.E fan of Lilly Singh AKA Superwoman, I just love that girl's SASS, and after reading 'How to be a Bawse', my respect for her escalated from 100% to 1000% (Really. I am not exaggerating, you would feel the same if you had been watching her videos on YouTube from the time it existed). She is such an inspiration IRL.

The book is glossy, colourful and an AMAZING read, every chapter is told in Lilly’s bold voice, and it felt like she #SUPERWOMAN literally came out of the book to give me 336 pages of wisdom, I mean she poured out all the thoughts which I have been dreading/ longing to know and learn (is she stalking me? BTW). It is clearly a life lesson, and only those who have crossed that path to success after a lot of hard work will be able to tell you.
'How to be a Bawse' by Lilly Singh is not a book about surviving life, it is the definitive guide to conquering life. In Lilly’s word, there are no shortcuts to success, we have to climb up taking the stairs, one requires real effort, determination, and a whole lot of dedication. Her advice is crystal clear, and it will make you re-think about yourself and how to love the way you are.

From her old days of struggle to her days of glory, Lilly Singh has defined every detail with strong, inspiring, motivating words which made me get off my bed and start making my own vision chart after reading it.  Trust me, you will surely consider her as your personal trainer after reading the book.

Some of the rules to achieve and conquer life includes- letting go of FOMO, being nice to people, making vision charts, thinking positive, and challenging oneself by surrounding yourself with people who are better and know better than you, it’s a vigorous way to learn and improve. The words are captivating enough to kick-start your life from level 1 and take you to a whole new level of positive, dedication, and a zeal to accept challenges and conquer it.

This is one such book which should be on the shelf of every aspiring or ambitious person.
Spoiler Alert!! The book does not include hopeful thoughts, lucky charms, or cute quotes. Although I have now considered it as my lucky charm to work on my magic and conquer life by taking the stairs. #WorkHard
Maybe it’s time you grab a copy, read it, get inspire, and go conquer 'Life' like a BAWSE!

Book Review: Birth of the Fae: Locked Out of Heaven by Danielle Orsino

About the Book What would you do if all you knew had abandoned you? Abandoned by their creator, two factions of angels remain on earth after the Great War with Lucifer. These Virtues and Power Angels struggle to comprehend their Creator’s plan while their wings, a symbol of their angelic lineage, slowly and painfully decay. Unaware of one another, the angels learn to survive and reinvent themselves. With no hope of returning to the Shining Kingdom, both groups denounce their angelic lineage and develop into their own factions. They call themselves the “Fae.” This is their story. The Fae world is ruled by two distinct courts: the Court of Light, led by Queen Aurora, a former Virtue Angel, and the Court of Dark, ruled by King Jarvok, a former Power Brigade Angel. The two monarchs have opposing views on how to govern their kin and, more importantly, the way humanity plays into their survival. The one belief they agree on is human worship equals power. Exactly how the two go about capturin...

Book Review: I’ve Never Been (Un)Happier by Shaheen Bhatt

About the book Lights, Camera . . . Inaction Unwittingly known as Alia Bhatt’s older sister, screenwriter and fame-child Shaheen Bhatt has been a powerhouse of quiet restraint—until now. In a sweeping act of courage, she now invites you into her head. Shaheen was diagnosed with depression at eighteen, after five years of already living with it. In this emotionally arresting memoir, she reveals the daily experiences and debilitating big picture of one of the most critically misinterpreted mental illnesses in the twenty-first century. Equal parts conundrum and enlightenment, Shaheen takes us through the personal pendulum of understanding and living with depression in her privileged circumstances. With honesty and a profound self-awareness, Shaheen lays claim to her sadness, finding it a home in the universal fabric of the human condition. In this multi-dimensional, philosophical tell-all, Shaheen acknowledges, accepts and overcomes the peculiarities of this way of being alive...

Reading in Quarantine- #Birthdaybloghop

Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people – people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book.” – E.B. White With the Coronavirus crisis and most of the nation quarantined inside the comfort of their homes, I can presume all the bookworms silently rejoicing, not that the world is coming to a standstill (that would be rude), but because of the reason that we will have all the possible time in the world to be reading and ticking off our TBR lists (Not precisely though). At least we thought we will have all the possible time in the world to read and read till our eyes are sore, but guess that remind yet another excuse of, ‘maybe, I will start reading tomorrow.' And, one would probably be asking, ‘why read? when we have other things to keep ourselves engaged. There are so many other things to do and catch up with- for instance, binge-watching book adapted series, attending zoom calls, video calling old friends to ch...
