Book Review: If You Never Try, You Will Never Know by Sahil Mehta

“If you never try, you will never know,” Does this phrase ring a bell of motivation? Yes? This is the title of Sahil Mehta's debut book which I will be reviewing today.
The book is a mix of love, ambition, destiny, success, and loss. Robin, the protagonist of the novel, is inspired by his mother’s love for music. However, he is forced to look after the business run by his father which he refuses to.
The story is depressing in the first phase; Robin is a drug addict who lives in hallucination and imaginary world, seeing dwarfs and conversing with an imaginary character (whom he consider is his roommate and he thinks resembles his dead brother). Somehow, towards the middle, it made me feel better when he met Aisha whom he falls in love with, and she made him stay sane from his former obsession.
As I read, I felt Robin is just like every one of us, trying hard to fit in and fulfill his dream. He believes in himself; he is determined to go past everything and survive till the last. He is willing to leave everything behind just to pursue his dream of becoming a remarkable musician.
This book will take you on a journey where he had to take difficult life’s decision, and sacrifice certain things in life. It sends a strong message on how we cannot have best of both worlds. The dreamlike situations in the book make you wonder how your Mind and Heart want things differently.
Delve into the world of Robin and find out if he acquires his Dream, Love, and Fame at once. Find out if he can fulfill his goal and find love with his courage and determination.

What I liked- The usage of words and sentences in the book were simple, reaching the average level for a first-time writer. It sends a strong message of Love, Ambition, and Destiny which every one of us has one thing in common.

What I didn’t like- The love plot and dialogues were somehow cheesy and stretched.
The interpretation of the dwarfs sounds childish.

Overall, it is a light read for anyone who is looking for different aspects of choosing between love and ambition. There are ups and downs in love and life, you just need to go past it, try, and you will find your answer.
Will Robin join his father’s business or go looking for his dream career?
Find out in the thrilling, love and dreamlike story of Robin in “If You Never Try You Will Never Know" written by Sahil Mehta.
