Book Review: She Stood by Me by Tarun Vikash

About the book
Aparna is an upper-middle-class girl living with her values. She wants to make a successful career, prove herself to the world and has no time for love. Abhi is a lower-middle-class guy who is looking for a promising career too but he believes in love. He wants to live every portion of his life. He doesn't want to regret it later. But then comes a point where he found out that his life is not the same when he meets Aparna. For Aparna, Abhi is a good friend but for Abhi, she is more than that. She is everything now. And, It's time for him to tell her that before they leave each other to follow their career. He struggles, struggles a lot but opens his heart out to her. They move ahead with their life away from each other for another four years, not a small-time for anyone to wait for each other. Will they meet again, will they find someone else, will they be able to know what is love and what is a relationship, will they stand by each other or will someone else stand by them? Read the story of two individuals who will bring romance, emotion, and struggle and tell you what love is.

My take on the book
I would begin by saying that this book is a simple romantical read. A fictional romantic story of two people falling in love and trying their best to keep their love strong and going. The two characters Abhi and Aparna are refreshing. I am sure the author has no intention to write the book in a typical love story, but it does give out a romantic touch, where readers will enjoy the chemistry shared  by them.
The story revolves around Aparna and Abhi. The male protagonist Abhi is a shy boy who happens to fall madly in love with Aparna. With the help of his friends Manish and Nidhi, Abhi took the courage to ask Aparna out and that’s how their love blossomed. However, reality strikes when both of them happen to go their own ways to study, followed by taking jobs in a different city. The book shows how falling in love and keeping the love floating needs more than just time and trust. It includes family coming in the picture and making things more complicated. We are all aware of how love marriage is a big thing in Indian society and the book has clearly highlighted the same message.
Going by the subtitle of the book which says, ‘Love is not a relationship’ it is clear that Love is more than that. I won’t be giving away much about the story line, but I will surely say it is a typical love story of two people falling in love in a beautiful way and meeting the standard of keeping the love alive.
I though the book was a cute read and it kept me engrossed till the end. With everything going smooth in the beginning, it however takes a turn in the later part of the story. Will they meet again, will they find someone else. will they be able to know what is love and what is a relationship, will they stand by each other or will someone else stand by them? Read the story of two individuals who will bring romance, emotion, and struggle and tell you what love is. Find out by grabbing a copy of 'she stood by me,' by Tarun Vikash.

photo credit: Shethepeople Blurb In a world where a left swipe means you could be alone and sexless forever and taking a chance could mean you find ‘The One’, the question we often find ourselves asking is, what is love? The L-Word is about modern love: from ghosting, polyamory, love in the times of social media to more every-day problems like dealing with heartbreak, infidelity and getting out of toxic relationships.
