Book Review: Dreams Beyond Shadows by Kartikeya Ladha

About the Book
If you are holding this book, there’s a chance you may be at a crossroads in your life, as once the author of this book was.
Feeling stuck and overwhelmed by society’s pressures, how can we learn, in today’s fast paced and results driven world, to truly dream beyond shadows?
Having touched the hearts of readers across the globe, Dream Beyond Shadows has now been published in its second edition, to celebrate the raw and compelling art of storytelling inscribed in its pages.
This book chronicles a turning point in the author’s life, a moment when he decided to turn against the current of his life and move in the opposite direction of social expectations and his own conditioned fears. It’s the story of an adventure that leaves behind the hustle and bustle of New York City, winds along the Ayahuasca vine through the tribal magic of shamanic ceremonies in the Amazon jungle, into the Incan legacy of Peru’s Sacred Valley and the sublime energy of the megalithic Machu Picchu.
The author wrote this book to share that it’s possible for anyone to break away from time-bound limitations and relinquish the grip of the past. We can all take that first step, to embrace this extraordinary life in all its darkness and beauty—beyond the land of shadows.

My Take on the Book
This book comes under the category of Travelogue and I could take a hint that it was going to be a great read on travel experiences by the writer. On reading further, I discovered that the book was about the author’s journey to finding inner peace, where he experiences the remarkable healing properties of shamanic ceremonies in the Amazon Jungle, the sublime energy of the ancient Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu and the Andes Mountains, the openness of Peruvian villagers and their commendable lifestyles in harmony with nature, and friendship of many individuals who ‘coincidentally’ enter his life at the most appropriate moments to help him integrate the vital changes taking place in his being. This book has touched me in many ways but one thing which has hit me hard is the part where he left the hustle and the bustle of the city to discover his true path. The book is part autobiographical, part poetry, part musing, and majorly a travelogue.
Dream Beyond Shadows by Kartikeya Ladha is about the author’s quest in the wake for the absolute truth led him to walk on an unknown path, and inspired him to travel around the world to faraway lands while breaking past the normal equations of life to unearth his calling from our mystical world. In this process, he also initiated an endless stream of rediscovering himself as a human being, while trying to serve upon his life’s heartfelt mission. The book is truly inspirational and was unputdownable.
The author beautifully narrated his full journey of him practicing Ayahuasca in the Amazon jungle. His journey from Peru to the Amazon jungle was so vividly described which made me imagine what the whole process of cleansing the mind, body, and soul was about. The description is clear and written in simple language. The book opened my perspective about what it takes to go and discover the true path of life.
We all know that it takes a lot to leave a good job, families, and go in pursuit of true meaning of one’s life. It may sound easy and simple but to follow the process it takes a lot of guts and courage.
The book is divided into three parts- the first part talks about complete surrender, where the author speaks about his experience of completing surrendering himself to discover the change. The 2nd part talks about the start of his Ayahuasca journey where he narrates the entire scenario of how the practice of Ayahuasca led him into taking part in various ceremonies and learning a different aspect of meditation. The third part is about his drifting mode. This is the final chapter where he is back from the Amazon and is ready to go back to his normal life. The last chapter highlights the phase of him writing the book, as he visits some famous cafes, interacting with travelers, and reminiscing his last few days in Peru. The book is not just a work of non-fiction but very insightful, it made me want to experience what the author did i.e. following the process of Ayahuasca and seeking the true path of life. If you are someone who believes in seeking peace and tranquility, you will be able to relate to this book. I am going to be agreeing with what the author said in his blurb, “If you are holding this book, there’s a chance you may be at a crossroads in your life, as once the author of this book was.
Feeling stuck and overwhelmed by society’s pressures, how can we learn, in today’s fast paced and results driven world, to truly dream beyond shadows?”

Book Review: Yours Legally by Sonia Sahijwani

About the Book A young girl Sia has recently finished her graduation in Law against her parent’s wishes. With absolutely no family background in the legal profession, she sets out to explore the various opportunities this not so common but upcoming field of law brings her way. Written in the form of short stories and inspired by some true events, the author, through the protagonist Sia, narrates to us few such unusual and memorable incidents including some eccentric courtroom dramas, all of which left a deep impact in her life.
